WELLNESS
STRENGTHS DISCOVERY

CLIENT’S BRIEF
Image Mission, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering women through economic independence, engaged us to design a well-being workshop for their beneficiaries. We proposed a strengths-based approach, focusing on personal strengths as a foundation for well-being. Our approach is grounded in the belief that when people recognize and use their strengths, they are better equipped to navigate challenges and work toward their goals.
Prior to the workshop, a significant number of participants indicated their primary motivations were to "identify my personal strengths" and "boost my confidence." These insights directly informed the workshop's design and emphasis.
WHAT WE DID
We facilitated a 2-hour workshop using LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY®, taking participants through a guided exploration of their personal strengths:
A strength used before: Participants built models reflecting strengths they had drawn upon when faced with past problems or challenges, uncovering their "inner power" to take action even when things were difficult.
A strength someone saw in you: This exercise encouraged participants to recognize strengths that others had admired in them, often qualities they might not have noticed themselves.
A strength to apply: Participants identified a near-term personal goal and built a model showing a strength that could help them achieve it, visualizing its application in real life.
The session concluded with a shared display of individual strengths, highlighting the diverse qualities within the group.
THE OUTCOMES
Participants described the workshop as creative, enjoyable, and confidence-boosting. It gave them a chance to reconnect with strengths they had forgotten and view their experiences from a fresh perspective. While some participants initially found it difficult to identify their own strengths, the hands-on nature of the workshop helped them uncover qualities they hadn’t fully recognised.
Participants also found fresh perspective and inspiration from hearing each other’s personal heartfelt stories. Many expressed the emotional impact of the session:
"This workshop was a way to remind myself of the strengths I have but had forgotten."
"I really found the workshop helpful as it was a great opportunity for inner reflection, to reflect on strengths, boost confidence, and be creative!"
"The ability to see that the same thing (the same set of LEGO) can be interpreted differently by different people made me reflect on this in life."
"It allowed me to let go of my feelings through LEGO, and be so creative."
“We are grateful to Play Seriously for facilitating a highly engaging and meaningful LEGO® Wellbeing workshop for our clients at Image Mission. All participants thoroughly enjoyed the session and were deeply engaged throughout. One participant even shared a heartfelt message afterwards: 'I had a fun and self-reflecting day today. It was a nice feeling.'
We truly appreciate Play Seriously’s efforts in customising the workshop content to suit the unique profiles and needs of our clients.
Linda and Garland were warm, engaging, and created a safe, supportive space that encouraged openness and sharing. Thank you for partnering with us to support our community’s wellbeing.”
