CASE STUDY
TEAM IMMERSION
STRATEGY

CLIENT’S BRIEF
A local primary school engaged us to facilitate a three-hour management offsite to support the rollout of its new school vision of developing students who are future-ready and active contributors.
The objective was to unpack the vision by defining the key student competencies it sought to develop, and translating these into concrete priorities to guide each department’s workplan.
The session culminated in the development of a draft departmental vision statement that articulated the team’s shared aspirations and direction for supporting this future.
WHAT WE DID
The school vision was expressed through a set of desired student competencies. Through LEGO SERIOUS PLAY, participants brought these competencies to life by building models that represented what they might look like in practice from their own perspectives.
For example, participants were asked to imagine a scene in which a particular competency was fully realised: What might the students be doing, saying, or engaging with? This helped the team translate abstract aspirations into concrete behaviours and learning outcomes, while providing greater clarity on the role each department can play in fostering these outcomes.
Participants then brought their individual models together to create a landscape representing their collective view of what the school’s future could look like when the vision is fully realised. They then reflected on the landscape to identify key themes and develop a shared narrative that clarified what the vision means for the team in practical, actionable terms.
THE OUTCOMES
The client valued the opportunity for everyone to contribute, which was perceived as more meaningful than traditional table-based sharing.
Participants enjoyed the hands-on nature of the workshop and appreciated how LEGO models could help to make abstract ideas more concrete and easier to communicate.
